ABOUT ME
My name is Øystein Bjelland. I’m an associate professor of mechanical engineering at NTNU in Ålesund. I hold a PhD in engineering cybernetics and an MSc in engineering design from NTNU.

My research focuses on design and simulation-based tools for developing new products and systems. I’ve worked across maritime, subsea, medical, space, and sports applications.

Outside of academia, I’ve always been drawn to the mountains. Skiing and time outdoors have shaped much of my life, and for many years I shared this through photography and contributions to Fri Flyt. These days I take fewer photos, but the passion is still there.
